Job Description

Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, a subsidiary of Newmont Mining Corporation, one of the world's largest Gold mining companies, is seeking to recruit qualified and experienced persons for this position at its Ahafo Mine.

The successful candidate will report to the Chief Metallurgist and will focus on the development and maintenance of Metallurgical systems.

Essential Duties:
Maintain, develop and implement the following metallurgical systems:

  • PI historian - Process Administrator
  • OCS Mill Expert System - Maintain and implement new control strategies as required. Identify program shortcoming and improve
  • JKSimMet - Build, develop and run different plant simulations
  • Metallurgical Accounting and improving on current practice
  • Develop metallurgical reports utilizing Microsoft Excel -Visual Basic
  1. Keep current with mineral processing technology and the practical experienced of other operations
  2. Perform necessary project implementation required by operational or metallurgical department

  • Responsible for performing capital evaluation of projects and producing management reports

Required Skills or Experience

  • A degree in Mechanical or Mining Engineering with 10 years' experience or equivalent management position or 15 years' combination of relevant education and experience as a maintenance superintendent

  • Knowledge of computer management tools such as Mine Star, Modular Dispatch, VIMS and Ellipse is recommended
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, consultation, interpersonal and negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Job Purpose:
