African Plantations for Sustainable Development (APSD) Ghana Limited has Environment jobs in Ghana to hire Environmental Officer. We are currently developing large plantation areas in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana, with the intention of producing biomass-based renewable energy in the Districts of Atebubu of Sene.
Job Description
The company is now looking to fill the above position in its expanding organization.
The successful applicant will have the core duty of implementing and further developing the Environmental and Social Action Plan of APSD, and also development and operate an Environmental Management System for the company.

The applicant will:
  • Report to Management and other stakeholders on environmental issues
  • Perform license applications and renewals
  • Further develop environmental management systems
  • Train relevant staff
Required Skills or Experience
The applicant must have:
  • A degree in Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources Management or Engineering
  • A minimum of five years working experience in environment related work, preferably in Natural Resources use and/or Energy Production
  • Good communication skills in (English and Twi)
  • Interest in field work

Job Description
The company is now looking to fill the above position in its expanding organization.
The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the company's construction projects, mainly road construction, erection of various buildings and structures, as well as quantity surveying of contractor projects.

The applicant will:
  • Design, plan and oversee road construction
  • Survey quantities
  • Supervise erection of buildings such as warehouses, workshops, offices, training center and accommodation for management and workers
  • Prepare various sites for Power Plants and Nurseries
  • Construct Water Collecting Ponds and Water Storage Tanks for fire protection
Required Skills or Experience
The applicant must have:
  • A registration as a Registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of 10 years' experience in all aspects of road design and construction, including quantity surveying
  • Experience with structures, building, and reticulation of services will be advantageous
  • Interest in field work

Job Description

The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager will be responsible for guiding the overall strategy, effective and efficient planning and implementation of all related activities of the M&E unit; overseeing evaluative activity including surveys, case studies and impact assessment; working closely with the MEDA head office evaluation office, and providing timely and relevant information to key stakeholders. The M&E Manager will also serve as member of Senior Management Team.

Duties:

•   Provide direction and supervision to the M & E Team to ensure smooth functioning and delivery of desired results in a timely fashion.
•   Devise the overall strategy, tools and mechanisms for monitoring, evaluation and information management for the GROW Project and its implementing partners.
•   Oversee the implementation of the project's evaluative systems and Performance Management Framework
•   Provide leadership and guidance in the preparation of the weekly, quarterly and annual reports, ensuring quality and timeliness.
•   Work closely with the Country Project Manager and the Project Specialists in the preparation of annual work plans
•   As necessary, plan and implement capacity building on evaluation for staff and partners
•   Ensure sub-grants are contributing and meeting overall project targets in a cumulative way and that M&E is embedded in each sub-grant.
•   Ensure MEDA's compliance in meeting  donor reporting requirements
•   Ensure evaluative systems incorporate gender and environment factors as appropriate.
•   Oversee the generation of 'lessons learned' systems to facilitate continuous learning for the project and stakeholders
•   Establish and maintain proactive contact with relevant stakeholders including donors, , government bodies, local organizations
•   Represent MEDA Ghana as and when necessary and requested by the supervisor.
•   Carry out other duties as assigned by the Country Project Manager.

Required Skills or Experience

•   Master's level education, preferably in social sciences, economics, business and/or international         development or an equivalent combination of education and experience
•   Five years' management experience in monitoring and evaluation, within an INGO or similar nature     organization
•   Experience in women's programming and/or economic developed strongly preferred
•   Strong familiarity with donor (specifically CIDA) regulations, reporting requirements,
•   Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives at a national      level.
•   Strong English communication skills, with specific emphasis on writing skills.
•   Demonstrated familiarity with various M&E tools
•   Excellent analytical skills, logical thinking, detail oriented and ability to work under pressure and     tight deadlines
•   Excellent interpersonal skills and collaborative management style.
•   Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
•   Experience working in culturally diverse settings;
•   A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
•   Excels at operating in a complex, fast paced, results-driven environment.
•   Appreciation and support of MEDA's faith, values and goals.
