Job Description

Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, is seeking a Financial Management Advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded project located in Tamale, Ghana. Responsibilities: 
The Financial Management Advisor will work with selected district governments and community based organizations to build capacity in financial management, accounting, and reporting of funds. He or she will work closely with these institutions to ensure compliance with Government of Ghana regulations and donor reporting requirements.  In particular, he or she will help district assemblies to:

  • Develop efficient reporting systems to account for grant funds
  • Develop systems to monitor and oversee the use of funds by area councils and community based organizations
  • Manage the reporting requirements of the government, USAID and other donor programs
  • Coordinate financial assessments of district assemblies performed by short term consultants
  • Liaise with the Northern Regional Coordinating Council and district financial managers to identify and resolve financial management challenges

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications:

  • Chartered accountant with at five or more years of accounting experience
  • Experience building the financial management capacity of donors, NGOs and/or government institutions
  • Experience working with district assemblies or donor organizations preferred
  • Advanced degree in business, finance, economics, or related field preferred
