Job Description

Chirano Gold Mines Limited, a subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation, is currently seeking a Senior Resource Geologist / Modeller to join their Technical Services team at Chirano Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the role will focus on the delivery of NI43-101 resource estimations for one of Kinross's premier gold mining operations in West Africa.

It is expected that you will have full end-to-end resource estimation experience, being NI43-101 competent and comfortable with various krigging methodologies including ID2, ID3 and multiple indicator krigging. 

You will have an in depth understanding of the practical application of geostatistical analysis, variograms and resource estimation. 

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Securing the future success of the mine by competently developing resource models and estimations.
  • Providing strategic advice and direction to exploration programmes.
  • Ensuring the business can make informed decisions by developing resource models that can be used in open pit and underground mine planning
  • Establishing, improving and maintaining productive and constructive interpersonal relationships both internally and externally with business partners and consultants
  • Contributing to the business' capability to mine safely by actively identifying risks and threats to achieving targets and developing, establishing and managing programs to ensure those risks are minimised or eliminated.

Required Skills or Experience

  • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Geology
  • A post graduate degree in Geostatistics will be viewed favorably
  • Experience of using Surpac
  • Experience of modelling for resource estimation including statistical and geostatistical analysis
  • Knowledge of sampling/assaying QA/QC procedures.
  • Must be Chartered Professional or Fellow of the AusIMM or Member or Fellow of the AIG in order to sign-off under NI43-101.
