JOB SUMMARY Company: Energy Commission Industry: Energy/Utilities Category: Engineering Location: Accra Job Status: Full-time Salary: GH¢  Education: Bachelor Experience: 3 years Job Expires: 30 Jun, 2012 Contact: 0302-813756 Job Description The job holder will assist the Chief Inspector to enforce the regulations passed by the Commission to regulate electricity, natural gas and renewable energy sectors. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Chief Inspector to draw work plans and budgets to ensure the inspection and compliance of Energy Service Providers to licensing terms and conditions Ensure strict  compliance with all requisite standards and regulations for operators in the energy sector Enforce standards of performance of technical operational rules for public utility service providers of electricity, natural gas and renewable energy Monitor importers of electrical appliances covered by energy efficiency legislation and exporters of renewable energy products on daily basis by use of the GCNet to enable compliance with relevant efficiency standards and regulations Undertake inspection visits to outlets of importers, wholesalers and retailers dealing in electrical appliance covered by energy efficiency legislation Assist with inspection visits to facilities of renewable energy exporters to ensure compliance Assist with assessment of license applications of energy service operators or providers Make appropriate recommendations relating to the efficiency and effectiveness of established regulatory frameworks and enforcement strategies Required Skills or Experience Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 3 years' post qualification experience plus Masters Degree in a related discipline will be an advantage Competencies: Knowledge in research and analytical techniques Knowledge in Project Management and Evaluation High computer proficiency Good knowledge of the role of other regulators in the energy sector Competencies in report writing and presentation Ability to work with little or no supervision Team player and good interpersonal relations Ability to travel and work in remote areas of Ghana Self-motivated and proactive How To Apply Interested persons should apply with curriculum vitae, three referees (two of whom must be work-related, one being his immediate supervisor).
