Job Description

The two (2) PROMISE Project Facilitators will be members of the PROMISE project team and report to the Project Manager. The first Project Facilitator will be based in Garu-Tempane District, in the Upper East Region and will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of project activities in 10 communities in the Garu-Tempane District.

The second Project Facilitator will also be based in East Mamprusi District, in the Northern Region of Ghana and will be responsible for facilitating the implementation of project activities in 10 communities in the East Mamprusi District.

The Project Facilitators will facilitate capacity building of the community groups, monitoring of partner implementation, documenting processes and impacts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the implementation of activities by the local NGO partners to ensure quality and effectiveness as well as documentation of participation.
  • Ensure Local NGOs Partners organize monthly review meetings with the involvement of MOFA and District Assembly to assess effectiveness and progress of activity plan implementation
  • Ensure Local NGO Partners organize regular community forums to assess impact
  • Participate in Local NGO Partners monitoring events
  • Provide Project Manager with training and capacity building plans for community groups and ensure the necessary logistic arrangements are in place for the training
  • Ensure training event reports are written and shared
  • With the support of VSLA resource people in the AFSP and Accra, facilitate linkages of VSLA to rural banks
  • Monitor technical activity implementation at the partner level
  • Use review meetings as platforms to document impacts / changes occurring as a result of project implementation
  • Ensure Local NGO partners submit monthly implementation and financial reports
  • Synthesize partner's report with own analysis, field reports and observations for the attention of Project Manager

Required Skills or Experience

  • The Project Facilitators should have a minimum qualification of a degree in rural / social development /agriculture, with an understanding and experience in the other.
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience
  • Strong experience and knowledge of agriculture sector and policies, food security and nutrition issues and networking,
  • The Candidate for East Mamprusi District should be able to speak Mampruli
  • The Candidate for Garu Tempane District should also be able to speak Kusaal
  • Proven experience and understanding of working with community groups, local NGOs and district assemblies.
  • Commitment to and understanding of a process and livelihood approach to development
  • Excellent professionalism, relationship building and communication skills
  • Knowledge of agriculture policy
  • Good spoken English and excellent English writing skills
