First National recruits for Branch Controller

First National seeks Branch Controller. We are a financial institution with strong social enterprise culture – Our aim is to help build an entrepreneurship foundation throughout the country by improving the standard of living of Ghanaians. Thus, supporting micro and small scale enterprises, we help build wealth. Our presence in rural communities helps to reduce poverty.

Since May 2006, First National has invested in building the most extensive micro-finance and enterprise development network in Ghana. So far, 48 offices have been opened with a presence in each one of the ten regions in Ghana, the only organization of its type to do so. First National plans to open 2 more offices to get closer to the people and serve the needs of the rural communities that have been neglected by the traditional commercial banks.

Job Description

As a result of expansion and transformation, with the goal of becoming the "People's Bank" First National Savings and Loans Co. Ltd is looking for a dynamic, experienced and dedicated individual to fill the above position.

This position is responsible to lead the Branch/Branch Managers to achieve profitability and operational integrity and ensure quality service to customers whilst creating wealth for stakeholders.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Overseeing and supervising the day to day operations of the branch
  • Preparing periodic returns of the branch to Head Office
  • Managing Branch Managers and liaison between Head Office and Branches
  • Visiting Branches regularly to ensure operations are running smoothly
  • Developing strategies to minimize customer complaints
  • Undertake market surveys and reports findings to Management
  • Markets the institution and mobilizes deposits

Required Skills or Experience

  • Bachelors degree from a reputable University
  • Master's degree will be an added advantage
  • Seven (7) years or more experience in banking operations or a similar position
  • Knowledge of the microfinance and/or banking industry and related statutory banking compliance regulations, banking laws, etc
  • Strong managerial, business development and analytical skills
  • Must be assertive, focused and self motivated
  • Good computer skills
