GAEC recruits for IT Manager/Information Technology Office

Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) seeks IT Manager/Information Technology Officer.  Established in 1963 by an Act of Parliament (Act 204) and now superseded by Act 588 of 2000, GAEC has the mandate which includes the promotion, development and utilisation of the peaceful application of nuclear and biotechnological techniques and nuclear education for economic and social advancement of Ghana. In pursuance of these objectives the Commission has established Institutes and Centres which carry out appropriate research activities and human resource development. The Commission has total staff strength of 700 comprising research scientist, technical, administrative and supporting staff.

Job Description

The Position: 
You are expected to manage the IT Units of the Commission and report to the Deputy Director-General on IT related Issues. The successful candidate should be capable of coordinating, controlling and advising Management appropriately on IT issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the IT strategic plan
  • Ensure the modernization of the Commission's ICT facilities
  • Upgrade and maintain an attractive website to promote the programmes and activities of GAEC
  • Be involved in areas such as software engineering/programming, database administration and networking 

Terms of Appointment:

  • The Appointment, which is full time, will be for five (5) years for the position
  • Salary and fringe benefits are attractive

Required Skills or Experience

  • Must be a good team player
  • Must be able to work under-pressure with or without supervision
  • Must have exceptional inter-personal and communication skills

Qualification:
The minimum job requirements are: 

  • Master's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Information Technology or equivalent qualification
  • Must have at least ten (10) years relevant experience
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience at Senior Management Level in a recognised Institution
